Go Gamecocks!

I think about my friend Erica as I'm writing this blog. She is a die hard Carolina fan from her jewelry right down to her flip flops! Mimi (Jeff's mom) gave Henry his first Carolina shirt, and he wore it proudly last night. Erica you would have loved it! We went over to a friends house last night to watch the game and they have 2 kids, Catie (almost 2) and Perry (7 months). All the kids went to sleep around the same time, and we were able to watch the game and have some adult time! Few and far between! I think Henry wearing his lucky shirt helped the Gamecocks pull through and start their season off right. The only problem is we might have to buy him a Carolina shirt for every game with the way he's growing!

We should have named him Jeff. I didn't know they were going to look exactly alike!

Beach Baby

Today Henry and I went to the beach with a friend from church, her friend, and thier four children. Henry has only been to the beach one time before, at Surfside with the Jones', this summmer (this is a shame since we live so close to the beach). He was 4 1/2 months old then, and didn't really interact with everything the beach has to offer. This time was totally different. Now that he can get from place to place, this is exactly what he did! I tried to keep him on the blanket at first, letting him touch the sand, and feel the water. This was not good enough. He wanted to lay on the sand and dig in the dirt. Before I knew it, he had dirty fingernails, a dirty face, and of course even dirt in his mouth. The puddles of water (I forgot what these are called) close to the dunes were a hit too. We sat down in them and splashed with our hands and feet, and even grabbed sand from the bottom, and again tried to put it in our mouth. I realized that I couldn't keep him neat and clean forever, and getting dirty was a lot of fun..for both of us. I am so glad he loves the beach! This is one Jones boy I know that will always hit the beach with me!

A mouth full of sand!

Discovering Shoes

Henry and I (more me than Henry) decided to try on some of the shoes in his closet yesterday to see what would fit him for the winter. He was a real trooper and didn't fight me too much. Once they were on, he was so amazed. He looked at them, grabbed them, and of course tried to put them in his mouth...this was allowed only because they were new! I thought I would add some photos of him and his cute shoes. It's amazing how shoes make him look like such a little man. And no, for those of you wondering if Henry will have a shoe fettish.... I promise this will only happen when he is this little, and I won't destroy his manhood.

Not quite sure what to think.

One of my favorites!!

More Camera Savy!

For those of you that commented on my poor camera operating abilities, I have mastered the red eye malfunctions (I know that is the least of my problems). After taking a couple of pictures with the red eye reduction on, I realized how blue Henry's eyes show up! Thanks Heather, for pointing this out!

Who's the Boss?

Henry is definitely taking more notice of Lake. When Lake walks by, Henry's eyes seem to follow him more and more. Henry is now getting to the point that when he can get close enough, he will try and reach out for Lake ( gently of course :)). Lake being Lake will tolerate it for a few minutes to humor us, but then precedes to find a safer spot somewhere out of sight, and much further away. Today Lake did the unknown and decided to lay right beside Henry. Henry first started touching his paws and then got up on his hands and knees for a closer look. At one point, they were nose to nose. The stare down had begun. Of course, the camera was nowhere to be found, but I did get some after shots that were mainly staged, and sadly not as cute.

Fun Family Weekend

Saturday Jeff, Henry, and I went to Beaufort for the day. Jeff and I visited Beaufort when we were thinking about moving to this area, and absolutely loved it. It is probably one of the reasons we decided to make the move. Beaufort is a great town. It has a small town feel with a coastal flair. The downtown area is our favorite. It reminds us of Charleston, but is less crowded without as many tourists. One of our favorite things to do there is swing on the swings overlooking the water and marina. We took Henry to this spot, but he was more interested in sitting on the lawn and feeling the texture of the grass than looking at the water or the boats. It was a perfect setting for a family photo. When packing up the car, one of the first things we grabbed was the camera. We were all excited to get a picture. As we go to turn on the camera, we realize that the battery is dead. Perfect. Even though, we were disappointed, this did not ruin our trip. Next time we will make sure to not only grab the camera, but to check the battery as well.

First word- we think!

Jeff has been out of town for a couple of days so Henry and I have had a lot of mommy-Henry bonding time. During this time we worked on making some of Henry's babble and screaming into something that sounded more like a word. I thought that if he could say dada to Jeff when he came home, it would be a nice welcoming present. So we practiced and practiced. I never thought this would work, and I'm not trying to take all the credit- but when he gets really excited and wants to express himself, everything comes out dadadadada. I know it sounds crazy, and Jeff didn't believe it either....until he heard it for himself. I truly don't think he knows what he's saying or who he's referring to, but it sounds like dada, and thats enough for us.

On the Go!

Henry is on his way to crawling. He can't quite sit up by himself, but he sure can get up on his hands and knees. He has recently started the rocking motion with it. He is so proud of himself when he starts doing this. He waits for you to catch him in the act, and when you get excited and start cheering him on, he gives the best grin, like he knows he's done something great. He's growing up so fast...

I can get it myself, mom

Apparently very independent already, Henry decides to pull down his basket of toys to pick out what he wants to play with.

Runs in the family

I had to add this one last thing. Okay, you may not be able to tell from the photo, but I'll explain. So, my dad bought this onesie for Henry. It says 'Born a RedSox fan just like my Daddy' I told Jeff to get me a onesie for Henry to sleep in, and of course he grabbed this one. The only problem is I had tried to put it on him before and the sleeves were a little too tight. Jeff fixed this real quick, by saying lets just cut the sleeves off. I had to laugh and give in because both Jeff and his dad probably have more cut off t-shirts than not. So when Henry starts to cut the sleeves off his t-shirts, I will always remember his "first" real muscle shirt (onesie).
Lake looking on with excitement.

The best smile in the world!
Caught in the middle of a roll!

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin

Henry first rolled over at 3 1/2 months, and we thought it was the best thing ever. We lured him with toys and coaxed him all the way. Now, at 5 1/2 months, Henry has no problem rolling from one side of the room to the other. Just because he may not be able to crawl yet, he will not be limited to staying in one spot. One thing I can already see in his personality is that he's determined and persistent. Two great qualities we are happy to see so early. The only problem now, is we too have to be determined and persistent to keep up with him! I caught these photos this afternoon after he wore me out rolling all around the living room, trying to grab everything he wasn't supposed to. I will say any frustration I may have had chasing him, instantly disappeared when he gave me that great smile of his. I hope he doesn't think that will always get him out of trouble!

New Blogger

I have been corrupted by technology since being out for the summer. I feel like I spend all of my free time (which isn't much) on the computer. Good thing Jeff takes the computer to work with him! But, I thought this would be a useful waste of time (if that makes sense) to keep everyone updated on what is going on with us. I can't promise that it will always be exciting, but I will do my best. This site will probably also be mostly about Henry, but he is the cutest one of the family (sorry Lake you lost your status), so I'm sure no one will mind!
