This Just In

I just got a phone call that my sister in law, Katie is having a GIRL! This may not mean much to you, but Jeff is one of 5 boys- no girls! And his parents have 4 grandchildren- all boys, no girls! We knew it had to happen! The curse is broken! Can't wait to see what a Jones girl looks like! Congrats Katie and Rick!

Still a Student

I am now not only a teacher (yes, I still call myself that) and a mommy, but also a student. I am taking two classes online now to keep my certificate renewed, and I was really worried that I wouldn't have time. Classes started yesterday, and even though there are no real assignments due this week (only orientation articles and videos), I am a lot less nervous. Even kind've excited. As a teacher, I loved the beginning of school, getting new supplies and organizing things with post-its and dividers, and cute folders- not to mention fun pens. Ok enough. I am back in teacher mode and I am loving the discussion forums we have with our classmates! I know I sound all happy right now, and I'm sure when assignments start rolling in and final projects become due I will be whistling a new tune!

4 month checkup

Even though Clay turned 4 months on the 9th of this month, his checkup wasn't until today. I am telling you our doctor should open his own practice. He is great and loves to take his time with you, but I was in the peds office today for 2 hours, and 1 1/2 of those hours was spent in the waiting room!

Clay had a great checkup! Here are his stats and a little of what he's doing now. Sorry no pictures in this post. He has on his pjs (I know that's silly) so picture update tomorrow!

Weight: 19.03 lbs 97%
Height: 26.5 inches long 90%
Head: 16 3/4 above 50%

Still on the charts, but barely! It has been confirmed, we are going to have a big boy on our hands!

Clay is such a happy baby! I have never seen a baby smile so much. We call him jolly! He is a great sleeper taking 4 naps a day (can't get him to hold off for three). He sleeps great at night too, usually going down around 7 or 7:30 and sleeping until 6:30 or 7 in the morning. He is getting 6 feedings a day 3 hours a part (the last one at 10 with me sneaking in and feeding him while he's asleep). The doctor said to hold off on solids until he's six months and not to change a thing! He's perfect! (or at least we think so!)

He is cooing, smiling, and laughing! He loves to jump and stand on his feet, and has starting spitting and drooling lately. He grabs everything, and immediately rolls over on his stomach when you lay him on his back. He has gotten really good at becoming more independant to play or lay on his own, and loves to watch his big brother. Hopefully the feeling will become mutual soon.

Clay is such a sweet boy, and we are so glad he is a part of our family! We love you munchkin!!

Recent Happenings

Instead of trying to sit here and write several blogs, I thought I would catch up in one. We've had so much going on, I can't remember everything and have done a bad job of catching it all on camera.

Henry had his three year appointment and did AWESOME. He ran right back in the room, got his finger pricked without even a whimper, and even peed in a cup (I know TMI). He is 36 1/2 lbs. and 40 inches tall. I think his weight is in the 50-75% and his height is in the 90%. I couldn't have asked for a better check-up.

Before the weather change we had to be creative with our days spent inside. Henry built his first blanket and pillow fort, and one day we went out in the rain and jumped in all of the puddles.

Henry had his first bowling experience for his cousin Nolan's 8th birthday. I've never seen a ball roll so slowly down a lane (sometimes it would just stop in the middle), but he had a blast. Of course he had to try and pick up the heaviest ball, and did not want anyone to help him. Can we say stubborn?

Jeff and I went on our first overnight date to Columbia. Jeff had to work so I spent the day shopping (Target and Panera for lunch= a great day!)We had a nice dinner that night with some fun live music. I picked the boys up the next morning after spending a little quiet time in Starbucks. It was wonderful, and I think they both missed me when I came home!

Henry had a St. Patty's party at school complete with everything green. The moms really go all out with the food, games, and favors. The kids made a leprechaun hat and it was really cute. Too bad my camera battery died when I got there. I was able to get a couple of shots, though.

We have a busy spring ahead complete with lots of trips and Clay's baptism! Hopefully I'll be able to keep up!

In no particular order...

We've got a Roller!

You heard it! Clay has rolled once from his belly to his back about a month ago, but I think It was because I had propped him on his elbows. Sunday morning, he officially rolled from his back to his tummy. Now he can't stop doing it and gets really mad after being on his tummy for too long. I remember Henry doing this, especially when we put him to bed. Now he just has to learn to roll back!

Clay turns 4 months tomorrow, but his appointment isn't until the end of the month. Our peditrician is in high demand these days, so we'll have to do a post about both!

I'll try to get some pictures/video of the rolling soon!
