2 month checkup

Clay turned 10 weeks yesterday and had his 2 month checkup. We knew he was gaining a lot of weight since his surgery, but we were very excited when we found out just how much. We always like to guess right before he goes in. I always guess lower (I guess so I won't be disappointed) and Jeff always guesses a lot higher. He is usually closer. After Clay's post op (3-4 weeks ago) he weighed in right at 11 lbs. I thought he would be around 13 now and Jeff said around 14. Here are his stats from yesterday.

Weight: 14lbs 13oz (97%)
Height: 24 inches long (90%)
Head: 16" (above 50%)

Looks like we have a growing boy!

Just for fun...
Henry at 2 months:

Weight: 12lbs 13oz (75%)
Height: 23 inches long (25-50%)
Head: 16" (50-75%)

Clay is a very happy baby. He is smiling and laughing. Loves to lay on his back on the floor and enjoys tummy time (for a little while anyway). He is eating every 3 hours (sometimes 2 1/2) and goes to sleep in his crib around 9:30. I'll sneak in and feed him one more time around 11/11:30. He usually sleeps until around 6:00. Now we just need to work on a naptime schedule throughout the day. I busted the babywise back out, so we'll see! He loves to watch his brother and thinks his daddy is really funny! We are so happy to have him in our family, and can't wait to watch him and Henry interact more as he gets older.

My Birthday

The Jones' had a family party for me to celebrate my 30th. It was so nice. A yummy dinner complete with a nutty praline cake! I think Henry was more excited about the cake, than my birthday. Thanks for making it special!

Crib Bound

This week we moved Clay to his crib at 9 weeks. We moved Henry at 5 weeks and he did great sleeping through the night. We waited a little longer with Clay because of his surgery and his adjustments eating again. He has been doing well in our room, but I don't feel like I get a really good sleep when he's right beside me. He did fantastic with the move! He usually gets his last feeding around 11 and goes right to sleep with his rainforest light up machine and his sound machine listening to the rain. He has been sleeping to about 5:30 or 6:00. This has been wonderful since he had been waking up once during the night to eat. Ahhh, sleep!! Now we just need to get on more of a schedule during the day...

Snow!

January 10th we had a pretty big snow. By pretty big, I mean almost 2 inches. We knew it was supposed to start snowing overnight, but didn't quite expect to see what we saw in the morning. The ground was already covered, and the snow was still falling pretty hard. It was nice snow too. Not wet, or slushy, but soft and perfect for playing in! Jeff couldn't work that day and him and Henry went out in the snow and played for a long while. Unlike most kids who want to build a snowman or try to sled, Henry just wanted to play with his cars in the snow. Jeff did get him to make snowballs and he did like to throw them, but he went right back to playing cars!

30th Celebration

Jeff has been out of town on business, while the boys and I have been hanging out at home. Tomorrow is my 30th birthday, so my mom came over to watch Henry and Clay so I could meet my BFF in Columbia for lunch. She lives in Greenville so Columbia is a great meeting place in the middle. I looked up places online where we could eat and ran across a really cute place called The Gourmet Shop. Not only is it a really neat shop, but also a cafe' and bakery. We had the best lunch and sat and talked for hours! We then went to another place I found online, Cupcake. I have been watching a lot of food network when nursing Clay in the middle of the night, and have been craving a really good cupcake. It was a really cute place and the cupcakes were amazing, sweet, but definitely hit the spot. I had a chocolate chip cheesecake cupcake with cream cheese frosting. So good! Heather got a Smore cupcake. They all looked great! I brought one home for Henry and my mom and I think they were just as impressed. While we were in Columbia, we met up with an old friend from highschool, Caroline who lives there. What a fun surprise! It was nice to take a break and a great way to celebrate the big 30!

Can we go outside?

Henry has been dying to go outside all week! I finally gave in today. I bundled him up and told him he could only be out for just a little bit. He sat in the sand (we have a blocked off area in our backyard laid with sand where a playset used to be-while one day we hope to get a playset, Henry is enjoying the big sand pit)and played with his "constructions" (what he calls his toy machines). He had the best time and enjoyed every minute!

New Camera

We got our new camera and memory card in the mail today. It's amazing the differences in pictures! I'm still trying to figure everything out, but it's been fun playing around. Of course what better models than my sweet boys. Henry did not really want to cooperate, and Clay was due to eat soon, so nothing spectacular, but thought I would share.

Trying to get Up To Date

It's so hard to catch up when you get behind. I'll try to do this all in one post.

In the past:
We had a great time spending Christmas with the Jones' on Christmas Eve and the extended Jones' on Christmas night. Henry is definitely aware of what presents are now and he had a great time running around with all of his cousins! Some of his favorite gifts were a baseball bag filled complete with gear, a mickey mouse train, a lightning mcqueen ball with a handle to bounce on, and cars, cars, cars. Not sure if he will ever outgrow this obsession. It was so nice to see cousins that live further away and getting all the children together!

We had Christmas at our house and it was so nice to spend it at home. I made a yummy blueberry frenchtoast complete with eggs, fruit, and juice. The boys loved it and I think it will be a Christmas tradition for years to come! Before this though Henry woke up when I was feeding Clay around 6:30 and was ready to see what Santa brought. I thought this didn't start until they were older! Poor Jeff was sick, but was a trooper getting up to watch Henry and enjoy the festivities. My parents and grandmother came over after breakfast to see what Henry got, and brought goodies of their own. After this came a very long, and much needed nap! It was a perfect Christmas Day!

We went to Surfside for New Years with Jeff's brother Rick and his wife Katie. Jeff's twin brothers Russ and Kell met us there too! It was the first trip with the boys and everything went well. I ended up getting sick right when we got there, but luckily it passed by the next morning. We had fun relaxing, eating Japenese, shopping, and the boys (Henry, Jeff, and Rick) even got to play on the beach with cars and trucks!

We came home early to meet Jeff's best friend, Dave and his wife Alexa. We have spent the last 5 years or so with them on New Year's so we couldn't mess up tradition. They live in Virginia and are doing their residencies so we are lucky to see them once a year. We steamed some oysters and in no time caught right back up! It was a lot of fun and made us wish they were closer! Next year they will be in New Zealand as part of their program so we will miss them even more!

If you've been reading this and wondering why there are no pictures, we have been having issues with our camera and Henry decided to finish it off. We have just recently purhased a new SLR camera and are waiting for it to come in the mail. It should be arriving this week so pictures to come!

Ok I think I did it. All caught up!
Exciting Upcoming Events:

Clay turns two months (8 weeks on Tuesday) and I turn the big 30 on Sunday!

Hope everyone had a great holiday and Happy New Year!
